Home Automation Across the Generations

home automation, generations

Home automation is good for multiple generations of users.

Even though each generation is drastically different, there are some things that will always bring us back together. Home automation is something that people across generations are utilizing. The only real difference are which services each group favors. So, today we’re going to be talking about the different ways that each generation can get the most out of their home automation services. Are you ready to learn more? Well, here we go!

Baby Boomers aren’t getting left behind.

Though this group is the least familiar with technology, they actually get a lot out of their home automation. They can utilize the features of their smart home to help them keep track of medication and physical activity during the day. They can also get a lot out of the security features to keep them safe while they’re in the house and if they’re out on the town. There are a great many very simple interfaces for their automated home that help them remember to feed their pet or make sure the temperature doesn’t drop below 75°.

Generation Y is down with home automation.

This is the most internet and technology savvy group for sure. Integrating technology is about as normal as breathing to this group, so home automation is obvious for Generation Y. They also tend to appreciate features and devices that can be customized down to the letter. Between controlling their lights, audio, and video and making sure the coffee gets made at the right time, there is a lot that this group gets out of home automation. There are also devices available that can help make food healthier, which is perfect for all the millennials who are still trying to stay vegan.

Generation X is a nice blend of both.

Generation X is pretty familiar with the internet at this point, but some of the finer details may still remain a mystery. This group enjoys many of the security features offered by home automation because of their family oriented lifestyles. They may not be as interested in some of the more complex devices that can be integrated into their systems, but they definitely enjoy their top of the line audio. Sonos is an essential for Generation X.
