Installing a home security system is a great investment, and they are incredibly easy to use. But, like all forms of technology, they can benefit from testing to ensure that they are still operating as intended. Think about it in terms of your vehicle. When your vehicle is malfunctioning, it may signal a maintenance alert symbol or you may end up broken down on the side of the road with no indication why. In regards to your home security system, you want to keep testing it to ensure that you know about any potential malfunctions prior to someone finding a way to break into your home. Let us tell you more about the importance of testing your security system.
When to Test Your Security System
If you have a home security system from Chesapeake Systems Service, Inc. we suggest that you test your security system every three months or more often if you are having phone trouble or changes have taken place. Additionally, you should test your security system any time you have reason to believe it is not working correctly. Some potential problems could include worn or damaged sensors, a power surge or blackout, accidental disconnected wiring (via utility workers, etc) or changes in your phone or Internet services (from which you monitor).
How to Test Your Security System
To test your security system, first, call Central Station at 1-800-356-2222 to place a test hold on your account to avoid any false alarms. You can access them to do this 24/7. Next, follow these steps:

b. DSC – Press and hold two buttons to the left of the shield
Siren will go off. Please let it siren for 45 seconds. Then disarm.
Call Central Station back to verify they have received the signals. Please contact us if this does not go thru correctly.
